Snow & Football

Here are my predictions for the next few days . . .

We're "supposed" to get up to 10 inches of snow today.  It won't happen.  Slushy mess accumulating to about nothing is my forecast.

San Fransisco wins over New Orleans.  I'm so tired of hearing about the Saints and how potent that offense is, how they have the best running backs, how they have the best Quarterback this universe has ever seen, and how they all that.  I'm rooting for the Niners just because I'd like to hear some news about the other teams.

New England will beat Denver.  I hope Tebow plays well but it won't matter.  Denver D is not good enough to stop Brady.  Denver O is not good enough to keep up.  I love Tebow but the "Tebows" get to rest after this weekend.

Green Bay wins.  Doesn't matter who they are playing.

Baltimore beats Houston.  I've thought that Baltimore would end up losing to Green Bay in the Superbowl all year.  I'm not making that call yet because I want to see what happens this weekend.  But Baltimore will beat whoever they play this weekend.

I might be wrong about the snow in Brookfield but if you ask me I feel good about the other predictions.

Tim Tebow

Tim Tebow is as fun to watch as any QB in the league.  He's good for the NFL and he's great for Sunday afternoon!

But if you ask me what I like best about Tim Tebow it is that he is a person worth admiring.  I feel good about cheering for the guy.  I want him to succeed.  He's not great but he's a great individual.  He's not the underdog he is Underdog and I'd be proud if my kids modeled their lives after him.

Somehow in our screwed up society we've accepted that it makes sense that there is extra value in being an athlete (or a singer or actor).  We see parents screw over their kids trying to make them into one.  Instead of investing in our children as individuals we invest in their talents.  Think Tiaras (nothing to do with talent mind you)!  We create idiots and turn them into idols.

And then there are guys like Tebow.  Tebow has confidence.  He knows he's not the best passer in the league but he's knows he's the best Tebow in the league and he IS going to do what HE does best.  Tebow has determination.  When his efforts don't produce he'll adjust and go right back out and try it again.  Tebow has humility.  At every turn he's building others up because he doesn't feel he needs to wear someone else's skin.  Tebow has conviction.  It doesn't matter what anyone else says or does Tebow is going to do it the right way.

Confidence, determination, humility, conviction.  If you ask me that is worth my time and I wish guys/gals like Tebow got the press they deserve because they have real value.
